The she-cat woke to the sound of the cows, they moo and moo on and on about how cramped they are in there stables, and the worst part, she could understand.
"Sparta, you come in and out, why don't you let us roam free like you?"
"Let us out let us out!"
"My calf is coming!" Wait what, that's not right, rewind a bit, all the cows in the stable were female, how could such a thing occur.
Sparta got to her paws, shaking out her pelt before she made her way over to the door, jump up and wobbly settled.
"I'm sorry, I'm not magic." She meowed, "I can't open doors with my mind or stop the humans from doing what they do, I wish I could but I can't." They moo and moo even though she was hopping away, her three legs getting her away from the smell as fast as they could.
"There you are!" Shrieked a human before they picked her up and stroked there hand over her head and back, forcing a purr she mewed and scrambled down, looking up for her breakfast. Soon the human pulled a few mice from her pocket and tossed them down.
Scarfing them up hungrily and mewed and rubbed against the humans legs before hopping off, it shrieked in the distance "Don't go to far!"
The she-cat hopped off far from the town with its loud music, dogs, humans everywhere and even worse the rouges that smelt of dead rats and human garbage. She was not just leaving for any place though, she was making her way to a special place, where there was a hollow that gave way to water and hay, then a small cave where stones shined as bright as the stars that littered the night sky's. She had met a special cat there, his name was LittleReed, a clan cat. He said he had been guarding there soon to be leader while he visited with something they called Starclan, her memory brought her back to the day they first met.
"Who goes there!" The mud brown, tan and black tom cat growled, getting to his paws.
She stumbled out, blinking up at the large tom and got to her paws. "I-I'm Sparta." She meowed, trying to shift herself so it looked like she was strong even though her leg was gone. "And you are?"
"Why should I tell you? Your a two-leg pet." He snarled. This threw her off, what was a two-leg, and when did she become a pet?
"First of all, I'm not a pet, second what in the hay stack is a two-leg!" She hissed, taking what he said as an insult.
The tom blinked and sat, looking off to the side with an amused look. "All none clan cats really are stupid." He laughed to himself and her fur fluffed with anger, her fur feeling hot she hopped over and got right in the toms face snarling in anger.
"I'm not stupid! I would like to see you listen to the dairy cow complain about being crammed into the stables, and always being picked up and scratched down by the barn owner, and having to deal with never having my leg back!"
The tom stumbled back, blinking at the she-cat with surprise, clearly not expecting her to stand up to him. He shifted to his paws and got right back at her. "At least I can keep my legs." He retorted before she hissed and lashed her claws at his face with all her power, he stumbled back against the cave that hid the pretty stones she had come to see that night.
The tom snarled, stepping forward ready to lash back before he hesitated and stopped. "I don't have to sink to your level." He meowed before sitting.
"Oh really, you already did when you had to remark on my loss!" She growled and turned around, storming out of the hollow, perching outside on the top of the hill, her fur still hot with anger. "Stupid toms! Always having to know everything!" After that she just settled, trying to relax and let her furry fade with the light breeze of the night.
"Look, I'm sorry."
She jumped, spinning around wobbly to see the tom, the claw marks drying. "What do you want!"
"Well I though I made that clear." He meowed padding over to the spot where she sat before, sitting right next to it. "I'm LittleReed." He meowed before looking at the moon.
Sparta slowly made her way over to him as the night continued, sitting next to him and looking up as well. "I have always wondered what it was like to touch the moon." She meowed trying to break the silence.
"Oh really now." He purred and looked at her. "And whys that?"
"What reason do I not have?" She meowed, "haven't you ever wondered what it feels like, smells like, if there is anyone living there?"
LittleReed looked at her through slits of admiration. "I haven't till now." He turned his attention back to the white ball in the sky.
Purring she sighed and blinked, closing her eyes and trying to imagine the sights and the feeling.
"If you don't mind, even after what I said..." He piped up hesitating before finishing, "What DID happen to your leg."
She opened her eyes, looking at him from a side, what nerve he had to ask but then again why should she not? "An accident." She begun. "The human was plowing a field and I was chasing a mouse, when the to combine it doesn't work out to well." She meowed finishing with that.
"I'm sorry." LittleReed meowed, "Cats in the clans have lost use of there legs before, of two-leg monsters and being crush or hurt by other things."
"Well, no one said that clan life was easy." Sparta meowed "No cats life is easy, no matter what they live like, there is always trouble."
After a bit of silence the tom slowly wrapped his tail around hers and nuzzled her neck muttering, "I won't judge another cat again."
"LittleReed!" Call a tom that popped his head out of the grasses that covered the enterence to the cavern to the cave with stones made of stars.
Little froze and got to his paws, leaving her side which made her sad. She watched him look over the edge and call "Coming RavenStar!" Before he made his way back over and nuzzle her. "I have to go." Then he turned and made his way down the hill.
Hesitating with guilt she ran up in front of him touching his nose with hers and hesitated before meowing, "But will I see you again?" She hated asking, getting close to a cat from the clans would sigh her for death sooner or later.
He blinked and smiled, stepping around her and walked down the hill again, brushing his tail along her side meowing before his tail left her side. "I will find you when the time comes." Before he vanished over the side. She peaked her head over the edge to see him speaking with a black and white tom, before they trotted off to the land bridge. Little looked back gave a smile of good-bye and then vanished with in the trees. Every bit of her told her to follow him, but the cat named Ravenstar did not look to friendly, she did not want to tangle with him.
Sparta sighed disappointed, then walked down the hill and back to the complaining cows.
That was the last time they met, her paws tingled at the thought though she felt stupid for even giving the tom a thought. Her paws had brought her to the cavern, the sun was high but she would not mind spending the day at this place. She slowly made her way into the cavern, looking around for any cats. Seeing none she hopped over to the hay, feeling tired she curled up and dozed off, hoping to wake to the tom who her memory was focused on for so long.
